Choosing A Swimsuit For Your Body Type

No matter what your shape, there is a swimsuit that will cover the areas you want to cover while accentuating your positive features. However, you will have to do the legwork and also know which body-type best describes you.

Here are some suggestions to get you started.

Pear shape – Pears are bigger on the bottom. If you have an ample bottom, you can minimize it with a swimsuit bottom that has a fuller fit, like a swimming skirt. It hides your bottom and adds a bit of style and flare to the suit, and your look.

Large bust – Friends always tell me they’d gladly have my bust because it’s so large. I don’t think understand how much of a pain it really is to be large chested!

When it comes to a bathing suit I always have a problem finding something will keep ‘the girls’ concealed! I’ve found that suits with wide straps and well designed, solid cups evenly distribute the weight of my breasts to keep straps from digging into my shoulders and provide support needed.

I have to add that while those suits mentioned above have worked best I truly have never found something that works 100% great for me…yet! I believe one of these days I’ll come across a miracle suit that takes care of ‘the girls’ 😉

Heavy legs – The thighs are often a problematic area.  If you feel self-conscious about your thighs, you might want to opt for a flirty skirted bottom. Also, wearing a bottom that sits high up on the leg, a higher leg cut, can make your legs appear longer and leaner.

Belly bulge – Oh the good ole belly! I don’t know about you but it seems like no matter what I’m doing my belly is still the hardest area to get rid of and my least favorite part of my body to fit into a bathing suit!

Belly bulge is something most women fret about! Look for suits that are one-piece and dark in color.  If you prefer a two piece swimsuit, choose a “tankini” which is a two-piece suit with a longer top.  This gives you the freedom of a two-piece but still covers your belly.  You can also look for suits that have built in tummy panels or suits that have gathering through the tummy. These tricks will help disguise a thicker waist.

Small bust – Sometimes I wish I had this problem! lol Ok kidding aside if you have a smaller bust look for something that has built in padding. This will help fill out a small bust. Also look for something that has some extra flounces and gathered fabric around the bust area. This will help fool the eye, making your bust appear larger. Make sure you stay away from plunging necklines. Instead look for higher necklines that will draw attention away by enhancing other attributes like your long legs.
