Weigh In #6: Plus Size Bloggers Tracking Challenge: Bye Bye Booties!

Today is the sixth weigh in of the Plus Size Bloggers Bye Bye Booties 12 week challenge. I haven’t been focusing on the scale a whole lot. In fact, if it wasn’t for this challenge I wouldn’t be weighing at all. I made a promise to myself that I would stop focusing on the numbers on the scale. After all, they are just numbers! They don’t define me. They don’t make me who I am. This is a journey about getting healthy and there are so many things non-scale wise to focus on!

I wasn’t shocked to see another gain on the scale today. It was pretty small but add this week’s gain with last week’s and well suddenly the gain is a bit bigger than what I want. But even with that, I’m still not overly concerned about it. I know why it happened 2 weeks in a row. I know what I’m doing wrong – poor food choices. But, I know what I’m doing right – being active, although I could be doing more – quite a bit more to be honest. I’m still not really concerned with the scale.

It’s so weird how when you make a decision to not focus on the scale your mindset just completely changes. I’ve never had a gain 2 weeks in a row and not freaked out. Sure, I’m not happy about it but I’m dealing with it and why be frustrated or upset? After all, I know why it happened.

Ok, so here’s my sixth weigh in for the challenge:


Starting Weight for Challenge: 297.8 lbs
Last Week’s Weigh In: 289.4 lbs
This Week’s Weigh In: 290.4 lbs
Total Loss This Week: +2.0 lbs (gained!)
GRAND TOTAL LOST: 6.4 lbs 🙂

    I aspire to the mindset you have right now. That’s the way to live while doing this. We can’t freak out and maybe even change our opinions of ourselves because of the scale. You know what to do and that’s what matters.
    How have you adjusted to this latest parting with your beautiful boy?

      Teresa – Unfortunately I’ve been “dealing” with this the wrong way – eating! I’m just trying to adjust to everything. While I’m being way more active, it’s not doing much when I’m making all the wrong food choices. But as I said here, I’m not freaking out over the gain the last couple weeks. I’ve finally learned that the scale doesn’t define me. Once the Plus Size Bloggers challenge is over, I’m going to go back to not weighing…or maybe just weighing once a month.

    You have an awesome attitude! You’re taking it in stride and not giving up. During our journeys, there will be times when we do everything right and still gain a little, and there will be times when we do some things wrong and gain a little. But the opposite is true, too – sometimes there will be expected or unexpected losses. Which just goes to show how fickle the numbers are.

      Serena – I love what you said when you said “…how fickle the numbers are!” Amen to that! I’ve spent way too long wasting time worrying and stressing out over the scale! It’s so not worth it!
