Day # 1 Low Carb Challenge and Starting Weight

Making a Decision to go Low Carb

I know a lot of people don’t agree with the low carb way of life. But I decided to join some friends in a 90 day low carb challenge. And honestly, doing something right now is better than what I have been doing – nothing! I wanted to learn more about eating low carb because I know so many people that have been doing it successfully for long periods of time. A 90 day challenge is an adequate amount of time to get a feel for this way of lifestyle. I’d like to say that I know for sure I’m going to stick to this way of life after the challenge, but I don’t know. All I can say is that I’ll see how the 90 days goes.

Growing Out of All My Clothes

I pretty much live in stretchy pants and a few old, worn out/stretch out t-shirts that I can still fit into. I can barely button my size 24 jeans! And the t-shirts I’ve outgrown – they are a man’s 2xl. I even tried a 4xl on at the store the other day and it was tight (I am very large in the breasts so I’d like to use this as an excuse as to why a 4xl shirt was tight…but truth be told, it was tight on my stomach just as much as it was tight on the boobs).

Stepping on the Scale

It was no shock that I wasn’t going to be happy when I stepped on the scale. I mean hello I’ve been living on chips, dip, fast food, little Debbie snacks – you get the point. (Seriously, there were days that I didn’t have any real food. I would literally eat nothing but chips, dip, candy bars, popcorn, little Debbie snacks, etc). And don’t even get me started on the Diet Coke. Let’s just say that I have been going through a case in 3-4 days (it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out how many a day that means).

My Starting Weight:

So, that’s not exactly what I wanted to see on the scale (there’s just something about being over 300 lbs that’s way more depressing than just being overweight…I don’t know how to explain it). My goal during the 90 day challenge is to see if I can drop 25 lbs. It’s not a large amount but it’s something that I figured could be reached…we shall see.

    Oh, I know you can do it! I had a night of “screw it” last night and had a couple bagels. If I had chips and Little Debbie in the house, it would have been them. Regardless, I used up a lot of my extra weekly points in one sitting. Argh. That coming from someone who has lost approximately 60 pounds in a year with 50 more to go. It’s never easy, but it does become more routine. I’m down to 1X and sure would love to get out of those plus sizes, so I’m right there with you. You can low carb with Weight Watchers or any other plan you go with. I wish you all the stay-with-it-ness in the world. I’d say I wish you luck, but there’s no luck to it. One step at a time – you can do it! You’re worth it.

      Thanks for commenting. Congrats on the 60 lbs lost. Sounds like you’ve been doing great so far! I think the biggest things with ‘screw ups’ when we have them is to just get right back on track! And you’re right – it’s all about one step at a time 🙂
