Quick Check In

Once again it’s been awhile since I’ve posted. Life has been way more hectic than normal so as usual I put blogging on the back burner. But I’ve received a few email messages and Facebook messages from people checking on me to see how I’m doing. The online community and the friends I’ve made amazes me – even when I’m a bad blogger, don’t take time to comment on other blogs, etc they still take the time to check in with me to make sure I’m ok!

So, I just wanted to pop in real quick and say that I’m ok. I believe I shared in my last post that there were some personal things going on that I couldn’t talk about that were taking up a lot of my time. The issue(s) are still there and I’m still fighting each and every day to overcome the issues. I’m doing everything I have to do right now to take care of me…but not in the way you may think (health/exercising/eating right/etc).

Because the other issues are so important, right now my counselor only has me focusing on those because they are a priority. Not that living a healthy lifestyle isn’t a priority but right now that can’t be my main focus. However, with that said I am taking baby steps – very small baby steps – to change some things in my life that are all about living a healthy life.

Here are a few of the changes I’ve made:

  • I drank my last Diet Coke on Saturday, June 23rd (considering I was drinking anywhere from 3-6 a day, this was HUGE for me!). I did end up having one on July 9th but couldn’t even drink 1/4 of it.
  • I am drinking TONS of water every day! (Since giving up the Diet Coke I can’t believe how much water I’ve been drinking!)
  • I cut out all white bread and white pasta. I’ve replaced my bread with whole wheat or this multi-grain weird type bread. I’ve also replaced white pasta with wheat pasta.
  • I’ve been trying to eat fruits/veggies at least twice a week. (Yes, I know twice a week is really bad but considering I wasn’t eating any this is also a big improvement/change for me).
  • I’ve been riding my bike once in awhile.

So, as you can see those are definitely very small baby steps. But I’m ok with it. I have to focus on the other stuff going on and if I try to change everything all at once I’m going to get too overwhelmed and not fix anything. So, while I’m still eating bad things I am working on changing some things and for right now that’s how it’s going to be.
